Trauma Informed Hypnotherapy is a a mind-body approach to change developed by Courtney Armstrong that is grounded in neuroscience and uses experiential, evidence-based techniques that help your clients calm anxiety, resolve traumatic memories, and access inner resources for healing. 

You may even get your own breakthrough in this fun, dynamic workshop worth 24 CE’s that's filled with experiential activities and practice sessions to help you discover: 1) why hypnosis is one of the most effective evidence-based tools you can use to heal trauma, 2) how to use hypnosis to transform negative beliefs and change subconscious patterns, and 3) how to adapt interventions to fit your client’s spiritual, cultural, and personal needs.

If you’re new to hypnosis, you'll acquire ideas, scripts, & skills you can use right away to enhance your current clinical approach so you can get better results for your clients. If you are an experienced hypnotherapist, you’ll learn how to more effectively uplift your clients, facilitate mind-body healing, and craft hypnotic suggestions for specific types of trauma.

    Hypnosis Demystified

    Explain what hypnosis is (and isn’t); how it can influence the nervous system and traumatic stress responses; and discuss clinical research on using hypnosis as a therapeutic tool.

  • 10:30 am-12:30 pm

    Simple Hypnotic Inductions

    Identify 5 basic steps of a hypnotic induction and demonstrate 3 simple inductions to reduce muscle tension, refocus attention, calm anxiety and access positive emotional states.

  • 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

    Power of Suggestion

    Discuss how to craft effective suggestions and demonstrate how to use your voice, pace, and multisensory communication to influence mind-body responses.

  • 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm

    Safely Deepen Trance

    Identify hypnotic phemomena associated with 3 levels of trance and demonstrate how to safely deepen trance for increased relaxation, insight, and resilience.

    Discuss the neuro-biology of trauma, how traumatic memories are processed, and how to prepare your client for reprocessing a traumatic memory.

    Use a 5-step memory reconsolidation protcol to alleviate the negative impact of trauma and apply hypnosis to evoke positive beliefs &  emotional responses.

    Identify hypnotic interventions to improve self-worth & compassion while reversing the anxiety, anger, & shame related to childhood abuse, loss and neglect.

    Apply hypnosis skills in small groups based on your skill level with supportive coaching from Courtney and trained colleagues.

Got a burning question? It may be answered already below!

  • Who can attend this workshop? This is a professional workshop for designed for mental health clinicians and nurses. To attend you must be licensed as a mental health professional or nurse in your state, or have completed a graduate program in social work, counseling, or psychology and receiving clinical supervision as you work towards your license. Prior training in hypnosis is not required. We will break participants into small practice groups based on their level of experience. Beginners will practice basic skills, while those more experienced with hypnosis will have opportunities to practice advanced skills.
  • Will I be able to use hypnosis after this workshop? Yes, in most states, you'll be able to use your skills immediately if you are a licensed mental health practitioner. Go to www.hypnotherapistsunion.org/statelaws to see what your state requires.
  • Will I be eligible for certifcation after this workshop? To be fully certified in clinical hypnosis, the National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists requries you complete at least 50 hours of live, in-person hypnosis workshops. This training awards 24 hours towards NBCCH's certification requirements. Check the NBCCH website at www.natboard.com for more info on certification.
  • Do the 24 hours count towards continuing education for my license?  Check the CE information at the bottom of this page to make sure your state is covered. R. Cassidy Seminars has approved this workshop for 24 CE's and is authorized to sponsor CE's for psychologists, social workers, nurses LPC's and LMFT's in many states. BUT-- check the CE info at the bottom of this page to be sure your state is covered. If your state is not listed, you'll need to call your licensure board to see if they will approve this workshop.
